Sunshine
Saloon History
Back
in1849 during the California gold-rush, the present location
was a favorite "watering hole" for many mules,
horses, hens, roosters and get-rich-quick miners who traveled
from all over the continent to find their fortune and
quench their thirsts. Joaquin Murrieta, an early California
bandito with Robin Hood charisma, used this location as
a starting point before heading "downtown" to
the bars where food, drink and women were waiting.
Finally,
in 1975 the Valley Plaza Shopping Center was created and
the Square Apple was opened as a local nightclub.
This endeavor was short-lived and soon there after, in
1978, the present Sunshine Saloon (better known as the
"Shine") was opened and quickly became known
throughout the valley as THE place to go for a guaranteed
good time.
Since
the early beginnings, the operation has continued to evolve
and add entertainment, darts, comedy, karaoke, pool tables,
shuffleboard, ping-pong and 15 different video screens
for year-round sporting events. In 1991 a charcoal grill
was added and our menu grew to feature charbroiled burgers,
steaks, seafood, salads, appetizers and nightly comfort
food specials.
The
"Shine" is a third generation establishment
offering a little bit of everything for those twenty-one
or older and continues to be a "starting point"
for all who enter.
